Affiliate Marketing The Modern Day Gold Rush
Published May 1st, 2007 in Affiliate Marketing. 1 CommentWith the recent trend in affiliate marketing, it can be considered to be the millennium’s gold rush. Every where you turn on the web somebody’s trying to make a quick buck. The problem is most people don’t actually take the time to learn the important concepts of business. People tend to think because their business is on the internet the basic principles of business don’t apply.
Affiliate marketing is the hot new internet trend, which has everybody rushing to their laptops after work. In theory the business model of affiliate marketing sounds almost to good to be true. Generate automatic commissions by simply directing traffic to someone else’s product.
After about 2 months most affiliates find out they wasted a lot of funds only to come up short, much like the gold miners in San Francisco. What most of these affiliates fail to realize is, like any other business it takes trial and error. There is no such thing as getting rich quick.
Nothing will happen overnight. Many affiliates tend to purchase a motivating e-book with supposed secrets no one else knows. Unfortunately, these are the same overused “secrets” that’s been around for years. The real secret is all you have to do is apply real business principles to be successful.
One thing to remember is customer service. Even though you are just an affiliate, interacting with customers is always a good thing. That’s the biggest part of business. Without customers there is no business. Which-ever product you promote you should treat as your own product. Even though you are just an affiliate you should treat it as your own business. That means you have to work at it everyday and try different tactics until you find one that works.
In conclusion just remember not to get caught in the gold rush mentality. If you get into affiliate marketing understand that in order to be successful it takes hard work and dedication. There is no such thing as getting rich quick.
